CHICAGO (STMW) -- A woman was killed and a man was hurt in a shooting in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side Monday night.

Paris Brown, 21, and a man thought to be in his 20s were sitting in a parked vehicle about 10:55 p.m. in the 7300 block of South Perry Avenue when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside fired shots at them, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

The woman was shot multiple times and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.

Brown, also of the 7300 block of South Perry, was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 11:25 p.m., the medical examiner's office said.

The man, shot in the back and leg, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn but his condition was not immediately known, police said.
