(CBS) — Registered Dietician Lara Field shares some healthy but flavorful ways to slim down your summer BBQ.

Summer BBQ Slim Down

• Swap Out: Popsicles
• Swap In: Frozen Banana on A Stick
Cut a peeled banana into 2 halves. Place a skewer into each of the sections. Dip the banana into yogurt. Roll banana in granola. Place into freeze for 15 minutes.

• Swap Out: BBQ Potato Chips
• Swap In: BBQ Kale Chips
Preheat oven to 350F. Place kale into bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Combine chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, salt, paprika and brown sugar and mix in with kale. Spread kale onto the baking sheet in an even layer and bake for 10 minutes.

• Swap Out: Mayo-based coleslaw and potato salad
• Swap In: Greek-yogurt based coleslaw and olive oil-based potato salad
Swap in nonfat Greek yogurt for regular mayo and add a little apple cider vinegar to give coleslaw just the right flavor. Sneak in extra fiber into the potato salad by keeping the skins on. Add white wine vinegar, mustard and a little olive oil in lieu of regular mayonnaise.

• Swap In: Fruity and refreshing beverages
Try a fruity watermelon-basil daiquiri with watermelon, basil leaves, light rum, lime juice and simple syrup or refreshing cucumber sangria with sliced honeydew, cucumber, lime, mint, honey, white wine and carbonated water.
