Police Searching For Rockford Man Wanted In Connection With Two Murders

(CBS) -- Illinois State Police are searching for a Rockford man wanted in connection with the murders of two people.

Police said Terence Doddy, 36, of Rockford, is a person of interest in the murders.

On Monday, he allegedly killed an insurance salesman in Rockford. Doddy allegedly beat 37-year-old Todd Hansmeier to death, and then set a Rockford office building on fire in an attempt to conceal his crime. He then allegedly stole Hansmeier's car and fled south.

The next day, he killed a woman at a Willow Creek Rest Stop near Paw Paw, Illinois, on Interstate 39. That victim has been identified as 44-year-old Tonya D. Bargman of Monticello, Illinois.

An attendant at the rest stop found Bargman dead in a restroom at around 8:30 p.m. Surveillance video shows Bargman was attacked by a man as she left the restroom.

Police said they believe Doddy killed Bargman for her car, and the two probably didn't know each other. Doddy left the rest area in Bargman's gray 2013 Nissan Altima with an Illinois license plate of BARGMN 2.

Police want drives to use caution when visiting rest stops, as many will be traveling this holiday weekend. If you see Doddy, call 911.
