(CBS) – A former varsity high school basketball coach accused of sexually assaulting a young girl was acquitted Thursday of the charges.

“I knew from the beginning I was innocent of these charges that came up against me,” Jones tells CBS 2, adding that the ordeal has been tough on his family.MORE NEWS: Chicago Weather: Sunny, Breezy With Seasonable Temps
Jones was fired from his coaching job; there was no immediate word on whether he’ll get that post back.
