16-Year-Old Sexually Assaulted At Gunpoint In Calumet Heights

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in the Calumet Heights neighborhood on the South Side are looking for a man who raped a teenage girl at gunpoint.

The victim is a 16-year-old girl. The attacker is said to be between 19 and 23. Police said the man approached the girl as she walked east on 93rd Street at Cornell Avenue, made small talk for several minutes, then pulled out a handgun and forced her into an alley near 93rd Street and East End Avenue, where the attack occurred.

He then drove off in an older-model tan Mercury sedan that was parked in the alley, with something red-and-black dangling from the rear view mirror, possibly Blackhawks memorabilia.

The attacker is said to be African-American with a dark complexion, is about five feet eight inches tall, weighs about 140 pounds and has short hair with a line shaved on the left side of his head. At the time, he wore a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Area South detectives are investigating.
