School Bus Driver Accused Of Molesting 9-Year-Old Girl

(STMW) -- A school bus driver was ordered held on a $100,000 bond Tuesday for allegedly fondling and kissing a nine-year-old girl he was baby-sitting over the weekend, the Sun-Times is reporting.

While the girl was playing with her friend and filling up a pool with containers of water in the 5700 block of South Loomis on Sunday, Amos Baker touched her buttocks three or four times, Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Mary Hain said in court.

Then, after asking if she wanted him to dry her off, Baker, 27, took the towel and began to touch the girl again, and kissed her on the lips, Hain said.

The girl ran to her house and told her mother, identifying Baker by his first name and address, Hain said.

Baker, of the 2100 block of South Ridgeway Avenue, allegedly admitted he attacked the girl.

Prosecutors did not say whether Baker drove a Chicago Public Schools bus and CPS officials were unavailable for comment.

Baker, a father of two, has no prior criminal background. But Hain said he has a pending investigation of possible abuse against another child.

The Illinois Department of Children and Services has no record of Baker, a spokeswoman said.
