(CBS) The Cubs have acquired Marlins right-hander Jacob Turner in exchange for minor leaguer right-handed pitchers Jose Arias and Tyler Bremer, they announced Friday afternoon.

Turner has been added to the 40-man roster, with Ryan Kalish being designated for assignment.

The 23-year-old Turner has gone 4-7 with a 5.97 ERA this season in 20 appearances, 12 of which were starts. He was originally the ninth pick of the 2009 amateur draft, selected be Detroit before being shipped to Miami in a July 2012 trade.

Turner has a 4.77 ERA in 53 career big league appearances.
