Police Still Searching For Buffalo Grove Home Invader

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (CBS) -- A 26-year-old Buffalo Grove woman says she tried to fight off a home invader who sexually assaulted her earlier this month. At the beginning she thought he was going to try to kill her.

It happened at about 4 a.m. when the recent immigrant from Moldavia woke up to find a stranger on top of her in her bedroom.

She says her heart was beating quickly and she was shocked. But when she realized he was going to rape her she fought and was able to break free. But he caught up with her and threw her onto a couch.

"He begin to touch me and to touch me with his hands," she said.

At that moment she screamed for her life.

"I have a second to take his hands from my mouth and I scream," she said.

And then she says the attacker ran off. She then broke into tears and called police who informed her of a similar home invasion in the very same complex just last month. Since her attacker is still out there, she felt the need to make her neighbors aware of the danger.

"I don't want to happen to somebody else because it's very hard," she said.

Police say the July home invasion was very similar but that the intruder fled when confronted by the female homeowner. That woman only came forward after learning of this month's home invasion and sexual assault.

Police suspect but have not yet confirmed that the same man committed both crimes.
