CHICAGO (CBS) — An SUV crashed all the way through a garage in west suburban West Chicago on Friday.

A woman who lives next door to the house in the 400 block of Colford Avenue said she saw a man in a silver SUV accelerate on the driveway, clip the side of the house, and smash all the way through the garage in the back yard.

Police confirmed the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed through the garage. The man was being airlifted to the hospital, but was alert and talking; his condition wasn’t immediately available.

The home’s occupant, his wife and two young children were not inside at the time of the crash. A building inspector will determine if the home is structurally sound, CBS 2’s Jeremy Ross reports.
