CHICAGO (CBS) — A man from northwest Indiana was killed early Friday when his car hit a truck on the shoulder of I-57.

Police said the driver was heading south on I-57 when his car left the road, and hit an unoccupied construction truck – a pickup truck with a cherry picker mounted on the back.READ MORE: Chicago Weather: Warm Stretch Begins With Temperatures In The 50s
Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the driver was pronounced dead. Police said the victim was from Hobart, Ind., but his name and age were not immediately available.MORE NEWS: Two Teens Charged In Clearing Carjacking
All southbound lanes of I-57 were shut down after the crash at 147th Street, but reopened by 5 a.m.., police said.
