Pregnant Woman Sexually Assaulted, Forced Into Trunk Of Car In Roseland

(CBS) -- A pregnant woman was sexually assaulted and then forced into her car's trunk at 99th and Indiana in the Roseland neighborhood.
CBS 2's Mike Parker reports the young victim, a student at Chicago State University is emotionally distraught. She's said to be doing okay and her unborn child is also going to be alight.
Just before 1 p.m., a small red sedan was in the alley behind the 9800 block of South Indiana Avenue when a Roseland man who lives nearby spotted it.
"I went out the back to dump the trash and I noticed this little red vehicle in the alley and about that moment the trunk popped open and this young lady screaming out 'Help me. Help me.' I said, 'stay right there I'll call the police.'" said George Simpson Sr.
He helped the 24-year old, pregnant, partially clothed woman out of the trunk, and called police. She told investigators a young man had forced her to drive to the alley where he sexually assaulted her at knifepoint.
CBS 2's Rosanne Tellez talked with the victim's father, Robert Perkins.
"She was getting some books out of the trunk of her car, the guy came up behind her with a knife to her neck, made her get in the car, drove her around the corner to the alley...raped her and put her in the trunk of her car," he said.
In spite of the trauma she suffered, she remembered her father teaching her how to unlatch the trunk from the inside, and was able to free herself.
"She thought that her life was over," he said.
And his feelings in the aftermath?
"Livid. Like, extremely angry, then I have to bring it back down to get myself together to be there for her," he said.
Perkins said she had an ultrasound on Wednesday, and the baby was doing fine. Her father is a community activist, but he said crime involving his own daughter takes it to a higher degree.
"I'd like for him to know that you have really torn my family up," he said. "You teach your kids not to do wrong, and follow that path, and this happens. … I'm just lost for words, to be honest with you. I'm an emotional wreck."
Perkins said he wanted to show his face on TV, hoping people would come forward and help.
"Nobody deserves to be raped. Nobody," he said.
As they search for the attacker, Chicago Police are armed with a detailed description of the man, provided by the victim. The victim told her father if she saw her attacker again, she'd know it.
