CHICAGO (CBS) — It may be rather late in the season, almost fall, but Illinois has it’s first two deaths of the summer season from West Nile virus.

WBBM’s David Roe reports, the victims are both Chicagoans.

The city’s health department says two women, one in her 70s the other in her 80s died of the mosquito-borne illness.

The health department says two other Chicago residents who contracted the virus have recovered.

Statewide, there’ve been 15 human cases of West Nile this summer.

Last year, 11 people died in Illinois of the virus, and 117 residents from across the state were diagnosed with it.
