Brothers, Both Kickers, Score Game-Winners Within Moments Of Each Other

(CBS) -- It was an incredible coincidence for a Chicago-area football family:

Two sons made game-winning kicks, nearly at the same time and across town from each other.

CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports.

Mike Kurzydlowski is the starting place kicker at Loyola Academy. Karol Kurzydlowski plays for the University of Chicago. Both know it can be the loneliest position in the world.

Both Mike and Karol made 23-yard goals on Saturday for their respective teams. Mike's kick helped his team win its homecoming game.

"It's a dream come true for any placekicker to hit a game-winner," he says.

Their mother, Michelle Kurzydlowski, is proud of her athlete sons. It's not always easy being the mom of kickers when so much is on the line.

"I go to into prayer mode, and I'm the Rosary lady," she says.
