Pimp Gets 45 Years For Beating Woman To Death In Indiana
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A violent attack that started at a northwest Indiana gas station and eventually killed a woman will send a pimp to prison for 45 years.
U.S. District Judge Philip Simon issued the sentence last week for Nathan Huey-Dingle, 32, who pleaded guilty earlier this year to three counts related to sex trafficking his victim and another prostitute.
Simon also ordered Huey-Dingle to pay a total of $78,721 in restitution, with part of it going to an insurance company.
Huey-Dingle admitted during his change of plea hearing that he had been driving the two women, identified only as R.W. and J.H., from Chicago to Indianapolis, Ind., the night of Sept. 12, 2012, with the intent to prostitute them.
They had stopped at a gas station in Portage, Ind., when Huey-Dingle got mad at R.W. after she locked herself in the bathroom.
Once they finally left the gas station, he beat her several times as they proceeded to drive south, hitting her "a lot," he said during his change of plea hearing.
They were on Interstate 65 in Jasper County, Ind., when he noticed she had stopped breathing.
He tricked the other woman, J.W., into prostituting by telling her she would make money from it but instead kept the money for himself, federal attorneys have said.
Huey-Dingle's attorney, Stephen Scheele, said in a sentencing memorandum that his client has come to regret his actions and has suffered depression since going to prison two years ago.
"He is ashamed and horrified of his actions," Scheele wrote. "He feels a deep sense of loss for taking R.W.'s life."
