CHICAGO (STMW) -- A person was found dead after crews extinguished a house fire in southwest suburban Burbank late Tuesday.

Firefighters responded at 11:55 p.m. to the blaze at a home in the 8600 block of South Major Avenue, according to a statement from Burbank police.

Crews put out the fire and found one person dead in the front room, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the fatality but did not release other details early Wednesday.

No one else was hurt. The age and gender of the person killed weren't immediately known, police said.
