2 Killed, 4 Others Wounded In Monday Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were killed and four other people – including a 16-year-old boy – were shot across the South Side Monday night.
About 11:30 p.m., a 31-year-old man was shot and killed in the Englewood neighborhood.
Larry Thomas, 31, was found in the 7500 block of South Union on the sidewalk about 11:30 p.m. with a gunshot wound that had entered his neck and exited his head, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:27 a.m., the medical examiner's office said.
About 7 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the head and killed in the 7200 block of South Carpenter Street, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:26 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
His name was withheld pending notification of family.
The most recent nonfatal shooting was reported at 7:50 p.m.
A 27-year-old man was shot in the back and the side in the 700 block of West 123rd Street, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized.
Thirty-five minutes earlier, a 32-year-old man was outside in the 9900 block of South Calhoun when someone walked up and opened fire, striking him in both legs, police said. He was also taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition had stabilized.
Separate shootings in the Woodlawn neighborhood – both occurring about 6:15 p.m. – left a 16-year-old boy and another man wounded, police said.
The boy was standing in the 6400 block of South Dorchester when someone walked up and opened fire, police said. He was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to his leg.
The man, 40, was parked in a vehicle in the 400 block of East 63rd Street when a male walked up and shot him in both legs, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
Police do not believe the shootings were related.
