Woman Killed, Two People Wounded In West Englewood Shooting

(CBS) -- A woman died and two other people were wounded Wednesday night in the West Englewood neighborhood, when they were shot by a gunman who walked up to their car and opened fire.

The shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. on the 6800 block of South Loomis Street.

Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said that after the shooting, one of the three managed to drive the others to Holy Cross Hospital.

Doctors at Holy Cross were unable to revive 25-year-old Krystal T. Jackson, who had multiple gunshot wounds to her torso.

A 27-year-old man was transferred to Mt. Sinai Hospital with gunshot wounds to his head and shoulders. He was listed in critical condition.

A 21-year-old woman was admitted to Holy Cross with a gunshot wound to the leg, and was listed in good condition.

Police said that the man is a documented gang member.

Area South detectives are seeking the gunman.
