A Message From Ferguson: Love Will Win

CHICAGO (CBS) -- After two days of unrest in Ferguson, Mo., a small business owner was determined to open her restaurant in spite of the damage sustained in the wake of violence.

"I think a lot of people have seen a lot of destruction," said Cathy Jenkins, referring to the anger following a grand jury's decision to not indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown this past summer.

On the day after, that day after, CBS 2's Brad Edwards found a teenage girl with a paint brush

"I got the idea yesterday morning when I was out here cleaning," said Molly Rogers, who was decorating a boarded-up window at Jenkins' restaurant, Cathy's Kitchen.

She chose pink. Her message? Love Will Win.

"I just want things to go towards actual change," she said.

Cathy Jenkins, who grew up in Gary, Ind., was touched.

"You can never forget the message; the message is very powerful."

It's been months of messages in Ferguson--some are written on boarded-up windows.

The message from Cathy as the nation pauses for a day of Thanksgiving?

"Take a break. Reflect. Love."
