Thousands Of Worshippers Gather At St. Guadalupe Shrine
(CBS) – A 25-hour celebration was underway Thursday evening at the Des Plaines shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Some 125,000 worshippers were expected to participate in 11 Masses over the course of the event. This year, Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich was expected to participate—the first time a sitting archbishop has done so.
Jose Bueno got out of his sick bed and brought his entire family to the outdoor celebration despite the cold.
"This is part of the family," he tells WBBM Newsradio's Bob Roberts.
