(CBS) -- The Chicago Bears placed linebacker Darryl Sharpton on the reserve/injured list Saturday due to a hamstring injury.

Sharpton played in five games for the Bears this season, including two starts. The linebacker made 27 tackles and had two pass breakups.

The team then elevated quarterback David Fales to the 53 man roster from the practice squad. The Bears selected Fales in the sixth round of last year's draft out of San Jose State.

In 25 starts at San Jose State, Fales completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 8,382 yards, 66 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
