Listen: Boomer Esiason Agrees With Cutler Benching, Yet Still Empathizes Amid Chaos

(CBS) Former NFL quarterback and current CBS analyst Boomer Esiason has been highly critical of Bears quarterback Jay Cutler on multiple occasions, and he was no different on Friday on the Mully and Hanley Show, saying Cutler has "got to be so much better" and that his poor body language does matter.

But Esiason also felt for Cutler in the wake of offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer throwing him under the bus and coach Marc Trestman benching him.

"I can't say I know those personalities individually," Esiason said. "I can only say that if it were me in that seat, I'd say, 'Go screw.' I ain't playing for you, if that's your offensive coordinator calling a guy at NFL.com and NFL Network saying these things about me. Jay said it – 'we got to work some things out.'"

"If I were in Jay's shoes, I'd be so livid at what my coach did to me that there is no way in the world that I could go into that locker room into those meeting rooms."
