Report: Illini's Rayvonte Rice Suffers Serious Hand Injury
(CBS) The Illinois basketball team's rough path in the Big Ten just got rougher.
Leading scorer and rebounder Rayvonte Rice has suffered what is believed to be a broken left hand, CBSSports.com's Gary Parrish reported Tuesday morning. The serious injury occurred in Monday's practice and is expected to require surgery and keep Rice out five to six weeks, according to Parrish.
The 6-foot-4 Rice, a senior, is averaging 17.2 points and 6.9 rebounds this season.
The Illini are 10-5 and 0-2 in the Big Ten.
