Man Found Dead In Porta-Potty On Northwest Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man found dead in a porta-potty Wednesday afternoon in the Northwest Side Belmont Cragin neighborhood suffered from heart disease and hypothermia, an autopsy found.

The 51-year-old man was found dead in the 2900 block of North Central Avenue about 2 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. His name was not released Thursday afternoon pending notification of his family.

A person working inside a new apartment building on that block found the man on the floor of a portable toilet, according to a police report.

The man was not wearing a shirt and there were no obvious signs of trauma, the police report said.

An autopsy Thursday found he died of coronary artery atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, and hypothermia was listed as a contributing factor, according to the medical examiner's office. His death was ruled an accident.
