Indiana Toll Road Closed For 23 Miles After Multiple Crashes
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 23-mile stretch of the Indiana Toll Road has been shut down in both directions, after a string of accidents involving semi-trailer trucks.
The Toll Road has been closed between LaPorte and South Bend since 8 a.m., and will remain closed until further notice.
Indiana State Police told WSBT there have been more than 10 crashes caused by backups from a crash involving multiple trucks a few miles west of South Bend.
Officials said there were whiteout conditions in the area Friday morning, due to blowing snow.
