Outgoing Gov. Pat Quinn Has No Plans To Retire
(CBS) -- Outgoing Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is not planning a quiet retirement when he leaves office next week.
CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine talks with the longtime politician about what he'll be doing Tuesday morning, when there's a new governor in charge.
Quinn is definitely not riding off into the political sunset after a bruising, ultimately unsuccessful re-election effort. That shouldn't be surprising, given that he's either been in or running for office for the last 30 years.
"You don't ever say never. But I do like organizing," he says. "I think there will be another petition drive, for sure."
"For what?" Levine asks.
"We'll find out. (I've) got to think about it," Quinn responds. "I'm sure on my last day on earth I'll be trying to get signatures on a petition for some cause."
Quinn, who calls a Senate bid is unlikely, says he has neither regrets nor apologies for anything he did.
"You have to look at what's right for the future, and that's how I've looked at every decision," the Chicago Democrat said.
Before he undertakes any new jobs, Quinn says he's taking a brief vacation to White Sox training camp in Arizona. He's already got the March 20 Sox-Cubs game circled on his calendar.
