Kyle Long Suggests Twitter Spat With Martellus Bennett Was Sarcasm

(CBS) The Bears stopped embarrassing themselves on the field more than two weeks ago. Yet off the field, they're still finding ways to draw unwanted attention.

Last week, cornerback Tim Jennings was arrested in Gwinnett County in Georgia on charges of DUI, reckless driving and speeding. This week, two of their top performers -- right guard Kyle Long and tight end Martellus Bennett -- engaged in a back-and-forth on Twitter, all because Bennett recently unfollowed Long.

You can't make this stuff up.

Long is fresh off a year in which he earned second-team All-Pro honors and his second straight Pro Bowl selection. It seemed at first that he felt jilted by the virtual actions of his teammate.

Bennett seemed astonished by the reaction of his teammate, taking a philosophical stance in his reply. In addition to that tweet, Bennett had several that used profanity, including one that told Long there are more important things happening in the world than Long's tweets.

In the end, Long got a little defiant, blaming the Twittersphere for being unable to discern "sarcasm." He's taking a vacation from Twitter.
