Report: Cubs, Felix Doubront Avoid Arbitration With $1.9M Deal
(CBS) The Cubs and left-hander Felix Doubront have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year deal worth $1.925 million, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reported.
Chicago acquired the 27-year-old Doubront from Boston just before the trade deadline, and he went 2-1 with a 3.98 ERA in four starts with the Cubs. He also spent time in the minors.
Doubront has a 4.78 ERA for his career. The bullpen would seem the most likely path for him to stick on the big league roster.
Pitchers Travis Wood, Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop; catcher Welington Castillo; infielder Luis Valbuena; and outfielder Chris Coghlan are the Cubs' remaining arbitration-eligible players.
