Bears Hire Josh Lucas As Director Of Player Personnel

(CBS) After achieving his first order of business by hiring head coach John Fox, general manager Ryan Pace has started to assemble his scouting department.

Pace hired Josh Lucas as the Bears director of player personnel, per a report from CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora.

That's the same title Pace held his last two years in New Orleans, so it's safe to assume he may be assembling a similar structure in Chicago.

"In New Orleans the pro and college departments are blended together," Pace said. "So whether you're working on one side or the other, you're really doing both and I actually think that's important."

Lucas spent 10 seasons in the Saints' player personnel department, starting as a scouting assistant before moving up to an area scout (Southwest) and eventually a southern regional scout.

Prior to joining the Saints, Lucas spent three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lucas played safety at Harvard for two seasons.
