Bears Hire Jeff Rodgers As Special Teams Coordinator

(CBS) New Bears coach John Fox has already brought along a familiar face as he begins to fill out his staff.

The Bears have hired Jeff Rodgers as their new special teams coordinator, they announced Monday morning. Rodgers spent the last four seasons working the same job in Denver under Fox. The Broncos won the AFC West each of those four seasons.

During Rodgers' four years in Denver, the Broncos were 10th in the NFL in gross punting average, 11th in net punting averaging and ninth in kick return average.

Prior to Denver, Rodgers worked for two years in Carolina with Fox. He was a special teams assistant and then the coordinator.

Rodgers attended high school in Austin, Texas, and played college football at North Texas.
