(CBS) The White Sox have acquired right-hander Yency Almonte from the Angels as the player to be named later from an August trade that sent Gordon Beckham to Los Angeles. In another move, Chicago requested waivers on outfielder Dayan Viciedo for the purpose of granting his unconditional release.

The 20-year-old Almonte was 2-6 with a 5.91 ERA in 45 2/3 innings split between the Arizona Rookie League and Class-A Burlington in 2014.

Over the course of three seasons in the Angels organization, the 6-foot-4 Almonte has a 6.44 ERA. He was chosen in the 17th round of the 2012 amateur draft.
