Bowling Green Holds On To Beat NIU 69-65

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -- Jehvon Clarke scored 18 points and hit a key jumper with 19 seconds left, and Bowling Green held on to beat Northern Illinois 69-65 on Saturday night.

Bowling Green (15-6, 7-3 Mid-American) remains in a three-way tie for first place in the East Division.

The Falcons had a 13-point lead with 7:14 left. Northern Illinois chipped away, pulling within 65-64 on Aaric Armstead's dunk with 11.8 seconds left to answer Clarke's jumper.

Anthony Henderson made a pair of free throws to stretch Bowling Green's lead to 67-64.  The Falcons then fouled Travon Baker, who made the first free throw and intentionally missed the second, but the Huskies couldn't connect on the put-back. Richaun Holmes grabbed the carom and then made a pair of free throws to seal it for the Falcons.

Baker led Northern Illinois (9-12, 3-7) with 20 points.
