Police: Man Robbed After Believing He Was Going On Blind Date In Aurora

(CBS) -- West suburban police say a man got more than he bargained for when he showed up for a blind date, reports WBBM's Cisco Cotto.

Aurora Police say a 24-year-old Willowbrook man showed up on the 1000 block of Woodview Court because he thought he was going to meet a 21-year-old woman from Aurora. The two had supposedly been texting for several hours after meeting online but when he pulled up, three men attacked him, beat him and robbed him of cash.

He ran away as the men stole his car and he claims they fired a shot at him.

Aurora Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli has a warning to anyone meeting someone in person for the first time.

"When you are dealing with social media, you've got a tremendous cloak of anonymity," he said. "You don't know what you are getting into. You got to be careful."
So far, there are no suspects.
