'Dibs' Markers: Now You See Them, Now You Don't

(CBS) – On the city's Southeast Side, the regularly scheduled garbage day included taking out another kind of trash.

CBS 2's Jeremy Ross reports on the disappearance of dibs.

The hum of garbage trucks accompanied workers. They disposed of "dibs" markers – makeshift placeholders for parking that included chairs, cones and kiddie bikes.

The city asked neighbors to remove the items from the streets and nearby walkways, following this month's historic blizzard.  Traditionally, some Chicago residents dig out a parking space use the markers to save their spots.

Now, workers during their normal garbage routes will remove any dibs markers.
