I-55 Near Gardner, Ill. Reopens After Hours-Long Closure

(CBS) -- Multiple crashes on southbound I-55 near Gardner, Ill. Saturday morning led to part of expressway being shutdown for hours. All lanes were opened back up around 2 p.m. according to IDOT.

On I-80 west of Morris, a multi-vehicle accident led to significant land blockages, according to State Police. Around noon, IDOT says all lanes reopened. Police say injuries in the three vehicle accident appear to be minor.

White-out conditions were reported due to high winds and blowing snow. IDOT and State Police are urging drivers to use caution and avoid traveling in those areas if it is avoidable.
