ACLU Asking Judge To Order DCFS To Enact Reforms
(CBS) -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois is asking a federal judge to order the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to start enacting court-ordered reforms, reports WBBM's Terry Keshner.
ACLU attorney Benjamin Wolf says DCFS is not doing enough.
"They've got children backed up in temporary shelters, they've got children who can't get out of locked psychiatric hospitals solely because there is no place for the department to put them," Wolf said. "We want the judge to order them to take a series of steps to get back into compliance so the children can start living in safe places getting what they need and getting on with their lives."

DCFS released a statement saying that the agency has already begun making necessary reforms and it believes new director George Sheldon will help in those reforms.
Sheldon was appointed to lead DCFS last week. He becomes the agency's seventh director in the last three years.
