Illinois Measles Cases Climb To 15 With 1 New Adult Sick

CHICAGO (AP) — Health officials in suburban Chicago say customers of a Laundromat and patients at clinic may have been exposed to the measles virus. They also say the number of Illinois measles cases has reached 15.

Possibly exposed are people who were at LaRosita Laundromat on East Dundee Road in Palatine the morning of Feb. 16. Also possibly exposed are people who were at the Vista Clinic on North Rand Road in Palatine on Feb. 19.

Cook County Public Health Department spokesman Sean McDermott said Wednesday the latest case involves an adult from northern Cook County. The patient has no direct connection to any of the previously reported cases, and the infection source is unknown. The patient's vaccination status also isn't known.

The Illinois measles cases include three adults and 12 infants.
