Status Hearing Set In Chicago In Islamic State Case
CHICAGO (AP) -- A Chicago-area man charged with trying to travel with his siblings to Syria to join the Islamic State group is scheduled to appear in court days after FBI agents raided his family home for a second time.
Authorities haven't said in the lead-up to Tuesday's hearing why they searched Mohammed Hamzah Khan's home Thursday.
The Bolingbrook home was first searched Oct. 4, the same day that the 19-year-old Khan and his teenage brother and sister were detained at O'Hare International Airport.
Khan's attorney, Thomas Durkin, has said only that agents were looking for communications equipment during Thursday's search.
Khan was charged and jailed, but not his siblings. He's pleaded not guilty to seeking to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.
