CHICAGO (CBS) — The breaded steak sandwich from Ricobene’s has been named, wait for it, the best … in … the … whole … world.

The honor comes courtesy of USA Today’s Ted Berg, who enthused: “Straight up: It’s a perfect sandwich. And so while I recognize the haunting fact that somewhere out there, some place I’ve never been and some place I might never be, there could be a sandwich as good as this one, I am unwilling to believe there are any sandwiches distinctly better than this one.”

Now, Berg is not a food writer. Rather he is a baseball writer, which might make him more qualified as he has no doubt consumed many sandwiches while on the beat.

What’s more, he once wrote sandwich reviews. He’s eaten them in 42 states and 20 countries.

I am not nearly as well-traveled, but I have eaten my fair share of Ricobene’s in my time on this planet as well. And it tastes exactly as Berg describes it.

However, best in the world? Let’s give Mr. Berg flair points for hyperbole. It is a great sandwich, to be sure.
