Police Officers Shoot Man Wielding Knife In Posen

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A domestic disturbance in south suburban Posen ended with police officers shooting a man who allegedly refused to drop his weapon.

Around 2 a.m., police officers responded to a call for help near 145th Street and Sherman Avenue, after receiving a call from a woman with two kids inside the home.

Police expected to find some kind of domestic disturbance, and when they arrived, they were confronted by a man wielding a large kitchen knife.

Authorities said officers repeatedly told the man to drop the knife, but he refused and came towards them, so they shot him.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, but his condition was not available late Monday morning.

The children, ages 5 and 6, were located safely.

Posen police have handed over the case to Illinois State Police for investigation of the police-involved shooting.
