WHEATON, Ill. (AP) — A suburban Chicago family physician has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin says that 68-year-old Edward J. McMenamin pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one child pornography count.

He faces up to 30 years in state prison when he’s sentenced in May.

McMenamin was arrested in May 2014 after an investigation by the Downers Grove Police Department, which was acting on a tip about the distribution and possession of child pornography in the village.

Authorities say McMenamin was found to have numerous photos and videos of child pornography.

Berlin says the case underscores that possessing child pornography is not a “victimless crime,” because children were victimized to produce the material.
