(CBS) Actor Will Ferrell will play for the White Sox in Thursday’s spring training game against the Giants at Camelback Ranch as part of a plan to play all nine positions in various Cactus League games that day.

Ferrell will play in five games Thursday, including the Cubs-Angels contest. He will be shuttled from park to park by helicopter, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported.

Ferrell is participating in the games Thursday as part of an event to raise cancer awareness. Production is beginning on a new special from Funny Or Die, in partnership with Major League Baseball, to air exclusively on HBO later this year.

Thursday’s game will start at 4:05 p.m. local time in Glendale.

Ferrell has some history with Chicago baseball. In 2012, he announced the Cubs’ starting lineup along with Zach Galifianakis.
