Patrick Kane Skates Ahead Of Practice, But Timetable Unchanged

(CBS) In a positive sign, Blackhawks star winger Patrick Kane skated solo prior to Friday's practice as he continues his recovery from a broken left clavicle. However, his timetable for a return remains unchanged, coach Joel Quenneville said, meaning Kane is still expected to be out until about mid-May or perhaps later.

"He was actually flying out there," Quenneville said, according to CSNChicago.com. "He's progressing real well. He'll have a tough stretch of trying to keep away from trying to play a game right now. We'll see how that plays out (regarding the timetable), but you've got to do what's best for him first."

Chicago has performed well in Kane's absence, going 7-1-1 in that stretch and climbing to within three points of Central Division-leading St. Louis. The Blackhawks will likely need to reach the conference finals for Kane to return to their lineup this season.

In other Blackhawks news, winger Kris Versteeg will likely be in the lineup when the team faces the Stars on Saturday night, CSNChicago.com reported. Quenneville sat Versteeg in a win Wednesday against the Rangers because he was displeased with his recent play.
