(CBS) — There is a potential settlement more than 10 years after the death of David Koschman at the hands of a member of former Mayor Richard Daley’s family.

Daley’s nephew, Richard Vanecko, who wasn’t charged until seven years after the incident, pleaded guilty to hitting Koschman and served 60 days in jail.READ MORE: Downtown Chicago Roadblocks Quell Mexican Independence Day Street Celebrations
Koschman’s family says there was a cover-up in the case from the very beginning all because Vanecko was connected.

The City Council’s finance committee is expected to consider the settlement on Tuesday.
