Police: Pair Goes On Shopping Spree After Stealing Wallets From Audubon School

(STMW) -- Chicago Police are searching for two women who stole credit cards from a North Side school, then went on a shopping spree.

The suspects initially pretended they were enrolling a child at Audubon School at 3500 N. Hoyne Ave. on April 1, police said. During the visit, they went inside two classrooms and stole teachers' wallets, police said.

The pair then bought $145 worth of items from the Jewel at 2940 N. Ashland Ave. using credit cards from the wallets, police said. They also went on a shopping spree at other area stores, police said.

The women, whose ages weren't known, were seen in a newer-model Ford Explorer. They are wanted for burglary and credit card fraud, police said.

One of the suspects is described as a black woman 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 and 200-220 pounds with dark complexion and long hair. She was wearing glasses and a blue baseball cap in a surveillance photo.

The other was a black woman 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 with medium complexion and short hair. She was seen wearing white pants, white shirt and black sweater, police said.

Anyone with information should call Det. Robert Ross at (312) 744-8263.
