University Of Colorado Student From Western Springs Missing

(CBS) -- A 20 year old college student from the Chicago area is missing.

CBS 2's Jim Williams reports Berry "Tyler" Allen's parents, who live in Western Springs, dropped everything here and headed to Boulder, where Tyler attends the University of Colorado. His roommate reported him missing last week.

Sheryl and Berry Allen are combing the University of Colorado campus and the surrounding area , handing out fliers and looking for any information that will help them find their 20-year-old son, Tyler.

"We're very concerned about him," Berry Allen said. "If they see anything or have any ideas or any leads, please contact the police department."

Last week, the Allens got a phone call from Tyler's roommate saying he hadn't seen Tyler in five days.

The Allens are from suburban Western Springs, where Tyler's uncle Scott Wennerstrum is coordinating efforts.

"He's a good student and there's nothing that would indicate he would just take off like that," Wennerstrum said.

Tyler is in his first year at Colorado, a communications major, with no car or bicycle. His family says he's passionate about his guitar and hiking.

"He's a beautiful person inside and out and we just want to find him and continue spreading that joy," Sheryl Allen said.

Tyler is 6 feet, 140 pounds. His family says since he's been missing, he's not used his credit cards or an ATM. Last year, he travelled to Europe by himself, but checked in with his parents then.
