Cubs Call Up OF Junior Lake, Send Pitcher Brian Schlitter To Triple-A

(CBS) -- The Chicago Cubs called up outfielder Junior Lake and optioned reliever Brian Schlitter to Triple-A Iowa on Monday.

The 25-year-old Lake will be available for Monday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lake has spent parts of the last two seasons with the Cubs, hitting .243 with 15 home runs and 41 RBIs in 172 games.

At Triple-A Iowa this season, Lake is hitting .289 with eight RBIs in 13 games.

Schlitter, 29, is 0-2 with a 9.53 ERA in seven appearances with the Cubs this season.
