CHICAGO (CBS) — The FBI was offering a $5,000 reward for tips leading to the arrest of a bank robber dubbed the “Bandage Bandit.”

“There’s an individual we believe has carried out four bank robberies, dating back to March 31st,” said FBI Special Agent Joan Hyde.

The Bandage Bandit is suspected of robbing a PNC Bank branch at 2154 W. Madison St. on March 31, a Chase Bank branch at 3301 W. Cermak Rd. on April 6, a PNC Bank Branch at 3337 W. North Av. on April 22, and a PNC Bank Branch at 2300 N. Western Av. on April 28.

“In each of these cases, he has walked in and made violent threats against bank employees, and sometimes other individuals – innocent parties who may be in the bank carrying out their own bank business,” Hyde said.

During two heists, the suspect wore a large gauze bandage on the left side of his face.

The FBI considers him to be armed and dangerous, and has announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

“Especially in cases that involve violence, we are hopeful that a reward would prompt somebody to come forward with information,” Hyde said.
