(STMW) — One man was killed and another was critically wounded in a shooting late Saturday night in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The men were standing in the 7400 block of South Cottage Grove at 11:55 p.m. when two males walked up and began shooting, police said.
One of the men, 23, was shot multiple times in the torso, head and neck and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the fatality, but did not release additional details.
The other man, also 23, was shot in the back and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in serious condition Sunday morning.
Police said the shooters ran away after the attack.
