Family Of Missing Indiana Man Pleads For FBI To Get Involved In Search
(CBS) --The family of a missing father from Crown Point is asking for the feds to get involved to help find him.
Michael Hernandez vanished nearly two weeks ago after watching a Blackhawks game with a friend at a bar.
His family insists he'd never walk out on his twin daughters. CBS 2's Brad Edwards has more on the search for answers.
"It's like you losing your kid at the story and you get that panic attack in your chest and you feel like you can't breathe," said Tiffany Longoria.
Hernandez was last seen at Safe House Bar and Grill in Crown Point. He called his mother at 11:30 p.m. that night to say he would be home soon, and drove off in his 2008 Scion, but has not been seen since.
"I mean it was a Blackhawks game," said Tiffany Longoria said. "The Square had to be packed. Somebody had to see something.
Sources tell Edwards that just south of the Kankakee River in the Rose Lawn area was the young married father's last cell phone ring.
The Lake County Sheriff's chopper flew there again Wednesday to no avail.
"We got over six thousand signatures to get more hands on deck with Indiana State Police and FBI," Lorenzo Longoria, Michael's step-dad.
They met with the FBI Wednesday.
"We're not gonna give up until we find you," Tiffany said. "I just want my son to be home already."
CBS 2 has been told it is unlikely the FBI will get involved. However, numerous jurisdictions are investigating.
