CHICAGO (STMW) — A 26-year-old man was critically injured in an Edgewater neighborhood shooting early Wednesday on the North Side.

About 1:20 a.m., he was driving southbound in the 5900 block of North Winthrop Avenue when a gunman opened fire from the sidewalk, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

He suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and hand and drove himself to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was listed in critical condition, Greer said.
